Tryouts
Every player who walks through our doors gets a fair shot. Tryouts at SLVC are designed to be a positive experience, a chance for our coaches to see what you bring and for you to see what we're about. We evaluate every athlete individually, and we communicate clearly every step of the way.
We serve athletes ages 10–18 and hold tryouts for all age groups. No experience level is turned away from trying out.
2026-2027 Tryout Schedule
Tryouts are held based on age division:
Ages 15–18: TBB
Ages 10–14: TBD
Practices begin in November and continue through April/May. Teams compete at various levels, participating in local, regional, and national tournaments.

Tryout Registration Information
Age Division
Athletes must register and try out in the age division determined by theUSA Volleyball (USAV) Age Definition Chart,even if they have previously played up or hope to play up during the upcoming season.
If our coaching staff determines that an athlete is ready to compete in an older age division, that decision will be discussed after the tryout evaluation.
High School Athletes
If your high school varsity season overlaps with your scheduled club tryout, please contact the club prior to tryouts so accommodations can be discussed.
What to Bring:
Please arrive dressed and ready to play.
Athletes should bring:
Volleyball court shoes
Athletic shorts or leggings
Knee pads
A fully sealed water bottle (no open containers or Stanley-style cups)
What to Expect:
Please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled tryout time.
During check-in:
You will receive a tryout number.
A headshot photo will be taken.
Athletes will participate in skill evaluations followed by game play.
Tryout Results:
Following tryouts, families will receive an email with the results and, if selected, an invitation to join a team. Please ensure the email address provided during registration is accurate.
To accept a roster spot:
A $300 Commitment Fee must be paid by the deadline listed in your acceptance email.
If payment is not received by the deadline, the roster spot may be offered to another athlete.
Once a position is accepted, the Commitment Fee becomes non-refundable.
Parent Information:
Parents are welcome to assist with athlete check-in.
To provide the best evaluation environment, we ask that only athletes remain inside the building during tryouts. Parents should remain available by phone in the event a staff member needs to discuss team placement or other important information.
We understand that tryouts can be an exciting and stressful experience for both athletes and families, and our staff is committed to making the process as positive, organized, and educational as possible.
Registration Requirements
Step 1: Complete Online Registration
Complete the online registration form to reserve your athlete's tryout spot.
Registration Fee: $50 (Non-refundable)
Step 2: Commitment Fee
Athletes who are offered a roster position must submit a $300 Commitment Fee.
Payment may be made by:

Checks may be brought to tryouts. If an athlete is not offered a position, the check will be returned or destroyed. If accepted, payment must be received by the deadline provided in the acceptance email to secure the roster spot.
Step 3: Bring Required Documents
Please bring the following items to tryouts:
Copy of the athlete's birth certificate (required for all players, including returning athletes)
Current USAV Membership confirmation
Completed USAV Medical Release Form
